Club Membership Eligibility Individuals interested in entering a club into the Southern Maryland Junior Wrestling League (SMJWL) must be at least 18 years of age.
A written request for league membership must be submitted to the SMJWL Commissioner no later than 60 days before the first scheduled SMJWL tournament of the applicable season.
Applicants will be notified of the league's decision within 30 days of acceptance or denial of the request.
Requirements Following Acceptance
Upon acceptance into SMJWL, a club must complete the following requirements before participating in league competition:
USA Wrestling Charter & Insurance Obtain a current club charter and insurance through USA Wrestling.
USA Wrestling Coach Memberships The club's head wrestling coach and at least one additional coach must obtain the appropriate USA Wrestling Coach membership/card.
Copper Certification The club's head wrestling coach must obtain, at minimum, USA Wrestling Copper Certification.
Concussion Training The club's head wrestling coach must complete an approved youth sports concussion training program.
League Fees Pay all applicable SMJWL membership and league fees.

Wrestler Eligibility To participate in the Southern Maryland Junior Wrestling League (SMJWL), wrestlers must meet the following requirements:
I. Age & Grade Requirement Wrestlers must be between 4 and 14 years of age as of December 31 of the current wrestling season and enrolled in the eighth grade or below.
II. Joining a Member Club Wrestlers must register through an SMJWL Member Club. Parents or guardians should contact a club in their area directly for information regarding registration, practices, fees, and other club-specific requirements.
